The 100th running of the Boston Marathon happened in April 1996. The two planes that crashed into the World Trade Center in NYC originated in Boston (9-11-01). Boston hosted the 2004 Democratic National Convention and also in 2004 Massachusetts (declaration of the Supreme Judicial Court in Boston) became the only state in the union to legalize same sex marriages.

Reply:big dig, patriots winning the championship a bunch of times, the 1st female govenor for this state, jfk jr died (very sad), the whole tunnel falling on the car thing summer 06, and of course the red sox winning the world series in 04
