Major events of cell cycle phases?

Briefly discuss the major events of the cell cycle phases, with emphasis on the stages of Mitosis. Why is mitosis important?

Major events of cell cycle phases?
Prophase - chromatin condense into distinct chromosomes, nuclear envelope dissolves.

Metaphase - chromosomes line up along the center of the cell. Spindle fibers attach to them.

Anaphase - spindle fibers rip chromosomes apart, taking one chromatid to each end of the cell.

Telophase - new nuclear envelope forms on each side of the cell. cytokinesis occurs and cuts the cell into 2 separate cells.

It is important because it prepares the cells for division which is essential for creating new cells to sustain life.

Note: Interphase occurs before these 4 stages. It is the preparation for mitosis. During this stage, DNA replication and cell growth occur. Also, cytokinesis begins during anaphase and ends in telophase.
Reply:mmkay. i just learned about this.

in interphase, the chromosomes duplicate their dna and prepare for mitosis.

then in metaphase, the chromosomes line up. you can remember that by thinking metaphase, meeting up. :]

thennn anaphase is where the chromosomes split and head in different directions. you can remember that by think ana phase. like the first and last name, and they're separated by a space :]

then telophase is when both daughter cells are formed and a new membrane forms on both of them. remember this one by thinking "tear" because they are torn apart and are two new cells.

hope it helped! i might have left something out, it's not very fresh in my mind :/
