Current Events - when I was 18 I knew everything ?

... and now I'm spending the rest of my life learning how little I really know back then.

Is 'humility' in the teenage 'current Events' vocabulary ?

Current Events - when I was 18 I knew everything ?
Don't worry about it. When you get as old as me you forget what you had learned when you were 18
Reply:I doubt it, as at 18 I thought I knew everything also.

ps, can I say Mrs Rebelo, your English has rapidly improved!
Reply:Ditto!

I don't think it is!

I'm near 43 and I know nothing!!!!! lol

But I knew it all when I was a teenager, up until my mid twenties!

:-o (my surprised look!)
Reply:I don't know ... let them have fun; that's the whole point of being a teen. Besides current events r nothing but negative images nowadays--like war, racism. Let them enjoy the dream world for as long as they can.
Reply:Mark Twain once said that when he was eighteen he thought his father was the stupidest man he knew. When Twain reached age 21 he was amazed at how much his father had learned in three years.

That view of a young man proceeding from late adolesence to early adulthood hasn't changed. Humility is not thought of, because there is a popular notion that if some fable is repeated often enough it becomes truth.
Reply:LMFAO!!!!

No....18 year-olds continue to believe their knowledge is complete.

The only compensation we have is looking at them and laughing...INSIDE, where it counts!
Reply:Not really .But at least we really know everything now ..
Reply:Afraid every decade sees a different YOU but that can be a good thing. Look forward. not backward. The more mature you get is a bonus.......don't ever forget that and you will be forever young, forget it and you are indeed a lost cause!!!
Reply:You must accept our apologies as you were obviously misunderstood in the past. I am pleasantly surprised that you perfected your English in a matter of days.

I must add that at 18 i knew everything. Now the more i know the more i know that i don't know much.
Reply:lol.I think we were all like that at that age.[only 8 years ago for me].

I can't even remember what I learned in school.

That sentence ticked me then.lol. My mum used to say to me, "I'd love to know what it feels like to know as much as you".

I used to just ignore her but,I know what she meant now.x
Reply:wow, your English has really improved!
Reply:Arn't we all!
Reply:Oh but I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now.
Reply:Who at18 knows "humility"? i wouldn't mind some of the idealism back though.
Reply:It could well be keep on learning
Reply:Did not we all !
Reply:Know what you mean, thought I knew everything, maybe 'humility' is the teenage 'current Events vocabulary', if I had my life back over.....................
Reply:welcome aboard chap.
Reply:I'm afraid not - it's been replaced by "knife".
Reply:lol i thought i did too, now at 35 still learning....
Reply:Ain't it the truth! And yet, you probably *know* a whole lot more now. : )
