Current Events - just out of curiosity, your opinion please?

This isn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but I'm curious about what others make of the state of Current Events.





Having looked at the list of endless McCann questions in this section, I wondered - how many of those ids belong to the same person?

There's a lot of venom in the air and I thought it took a very destructive and nasty form today.
Reply:I think that some of the questioners are not always different people but I can assure you that to the best of my knowledge there is only one Michael W and that's me
Reply:Yahoo should allow only 1 id per person.





This site would be a lot better, then.
Reply:(1) there are a lot of people here, for some reason, opening accounts for a day or so and closing them again. I don't see the point but it is happening.





(2) The McCann issue is perfectly suitable for Current Events. It is a compelling case and one of the main reasons why I keep returning to Current Events.
Reply:in current events defence....the mccann questions were scarce for a while....until of course Kate and Gerry decided to become film makers
Reply:Only one of me! No time for any more, I struggle to find enough time to visit YA as it is. Both Pro and Anti camps have people with multiple ID's. I think they made their choice of "side" on the 3rd May 07, and are so firmly entrenched in their chosen scenario that they will either have to continue on their current path or leave YA and return as a new entity. It's got so bad now that some people will rubbish a question without reading it just on the basis of the poster's ID - sad.





I have always thought that, "If you are in a hole - stop digging!" is the best policy.

There is only one of me and why should it only be McCann questioners that have multiple Id's? I know quite a few who have multiple Id's and they never ask McCann questions but use current events for their own personal use!





Maybe it's because many people are 'disgusted' at the McCann's and their general behaviour and therefore and rightly so, bring this 'current event' to the attention of this section?
Reply:What's sad is that this is the same thing that happened with the news discussion boards, and individuals got as many IDs as possible from Yahoo so that they could make it look like a whole group of people had the same political opinions. It's another example of the desperation associated with the kind of current events happening, and Yahoo may even be participating in on it to drive its own political agenda.

I just think so many people are interested in this case.

Reply:the McCann arent endless but theres a good deal of multiple acount people spitting vile comments and personal abuse at people who ask Mccann questions...= team mccann???
Reply:A fair few and they could not be more transparent, too many are strikingly obvious in style
Reply:i havent given it much thought. i am not really into current events. i think the mcCanns only are getting so much exposure because they are rich and white. most of the missing person cases that get the most attention (except the cases involving celebrities) the person/people involved are generally: white, an attractive/cute female, rich

Reply:The McCann case is only a tiny piece of yellow journalism, mate, it's all part of Show-biz. More precisely, it's a transparent tactic to divert our attention from REAL problems, such as global warming, the depletion of natural resources, extinction of more and more animals, overpopulation, incurable diseases, and of course racial and religious warfare, and the rapid decline of the American Empire.
Reply:You're right mate, i'm sick to my back teeth of all the clones on here ploughing up the same garbage time and time again. I still come on here now and again though because they're a great bunch really! love 'em.
Reply:well as long as they are on yahoo answers, they are a current event.
Reply:There is a lot of public interest in this case, it goes without saying, that the Mc's have brought this attention to themselves. I would say that no one is using the same ID to give their comments about this case.
