Ignorant about current events; where should I start?

I am hopelessly ignorant about what's going on in the world right now. I need to do more reading about current events so that I don't look dumb in conversations anymore. Besides the Iraq war and the upcoming presidential elections, what are some other current events/issues that I should pay attention to?

Thanks!

Just watch CNN for a half hour everyday, and you will always stay informed.
Reply:Subscribe to your local newspaper. Read it from front to back every morning.
Reply:where u can get the latest as concerns what's going on around the world is to get online news, there are lots of sites, on the internet. Yahoo gives u everything, MSN, CNN, BBC, NBC. do same. Watch TV channels like BBC, NBC, CNN, DW-TV, France24, and also radio stations. lots of them feeds us with whats happening. They all talk from politics, to entertainment to sport passing thru culture and everything you can think of.

Reply:Any newspaper from around the world or television news can be found on-line. However, it's important to get the news from multiple sources in order to reduce biased reporting. On the radio NPR is a good source of both news and discussions of current events. Hope that helps.
Reply:Pick up a newspaper every day. Read the front of it, not the horoscope, ann landers, or the funnies.
Reply:I would be careful with the madeleine McCann questions if I were you . . .
Reply:read news papers.
