I work at a Black culture center on a college campus and we are striving for better events and programming. Does anyone have any advice as to what would be a great! idea, besides poetry slams, soul food dinners and talent shows?? Something not redundant and would get a lot of attention. Thanks!!

Book some comedians, or have an open mic for comedy. Dinners are always good, but how about trying a different theme besides "soul food." What about a dance competition, or even just a performance? Also, a formal dance (as in a gala or ball) might go over well...let those college gals reuse their prom dresses.
Reply:How about a science contest, or bring in black professionals and have a career day.
Black youths need to be exposed to other successful blacks and give them advice on what to do to get where they are.

engineers
accountants
lawyers
physicians and etc.
I personally wish I seen more of this growing up because I would have been inspired to find a good career earlier in life!
