Does anyone know of any interesting events going on in Japan (Tokyo area) in late July/ early August?

I'll be in Tokyo from July 29th to August 6th. Does anyone know of any interesting events that will be going on during that time? I'M NOT ASKING FOR SIGHTSEEING LOCATIONS SUCH AS TEMPLES OR PARKS, but actual special events or festivals that might be going on. I'll be staying in the Shinjuku area of Tokyo, so anything within about 2-3 hours of there would be fine. Thank you!
