What key event or events should be included in adventure books?

Hi

Basically, in my free time, I like to write short novels. There interesting and usually good, well I have only written one, but the feedback I received was pretty positive however I want to write another and improve on before

It is an adventure based on a character who is ultimately trying to find the man who murdered his father (with alot in between its very long to explain)

What sort of events should be included in something like this?

Thanks

Seems to me to your story is border lining adventure and murder mystery.

It seems your going to send your character on a wild goose chase - motivated by revenge. So you will probably need substantial evidence that sends your character out on this chase with a narrowed down list of suspects - because it'd be a bit ridiculous for him to run off without any clues that would point him in SOME direction.

Maybe he found an important piece of evidence at the murder scene - and now he carries that around with him. You can choose the object. He goes from town to town asking questions - basically plays the part of an unofficial cop.

And my guess is that the killer is not going to be sitting with a neon sign over his head - that says 'I killed him' - he'll probably be crafty - uses disguises to get around - he later hears about this kid trying to track him down and the storyline changes. Now he's after the kid.

Bringing up the question: who is chasing who?

Good luck.
Reply:hmm... although your basic plot line seems cliche, there is a lot you can do with that. i would suggest the hero ends up in jail or prison at some point, or he has to make choices such as love or revenge; revenge or peace; and other things too... but as long as its fun to write it and people enjoy reading it, the possibilities are limitless...
